Backpacks to Briefcases is an annual professional development event hosted by the Student Alumni Association that is free for all UNL students. This event allows students to have their career and professional development questions answered, as well as network with industry professionals and alumni. Students also use this time to prepare for the UNL career fair later in the month. It will be held at the Wick Alumni Center in February 2023.
At the event, there are several rounds of breakout sessions, and students can choose to attend sessions that are most applicable to them. The sessions are small groups that are formatted for round-table conversation. Examples of past sessions are how to follow-up after interviews, what to wear to work, young alumni advice, building a personal brand, and how to prepare for interviews. This year, we would like interested session hosts to submit a proposal for a session that they would like to host. We will look through proposals and choose which ones will serve as sessions at this academic year’s Backpacks to Briefcases event.
